Trustee Biography
First elected as Trustee: 2017
Years served: Six, including as Vice-Chair during 2020-2022, Chair from 2022-2024.
Career:
Trustee Grant, who recently retired in May 2021, enjoyed a varied 35-year career throughout Alberta. Before retiring, she worked for the County of Grande Prairie's Public Works department. She also spent 28 years at the former Weyerhaeuser/Proctor and Gamble Pulp Mill in the roles of Human Resources Generalist, Safety Leader, Industrial Hygienist, Lab Technician, and Team Leader for the Company Harvesting and Road Building Team. Prior to moving from Fort Saskatchewan to the Grande Prairie area in 1987, she spent four years in Research and Development at Dow Chemical. During this time, she was also involved in the facility's new Polyethylene Plant start-up, developed a Safety Pursuit game for staff, hosted the plant's first Safety Week, and debuted the company's Safety Man mascot.
Education:
Diploma in Chemical Technology, NAIT
Community Involvement:
The parent of two grown children who attended Aspen Grove School, Elmworth School and Beaverlodge Regional High School, Trustee Grant has been a school council member at all three schools, and two-time volunteer for the BRHS graduation. She has been an active community volunteer for 29 years, including the Rio Grande Sports Association, Elmworth Curling Rink, Adopt-a-Family, managing her son's hockey teams, and involvement in her daughter's dance club. At Elmworth School, she volunteered with fundraising, teacher/staff appreciation events, and Christmas lunches for students, teachers, and staff. Her husband, Brian, farms in the Rio Grande area and is the CEO of the Grande Prairie Airport.

Goals:
Ward 3 teachers, administrators, students and parents: Work with all to ensure they are heard, their concerns are represented, and their successes are shared across PWPSD. Communication and understanding all sides is key to how we operate.
PWPSD Board: Work as a team to influence change where needed, while learning from other Trustees and reapplying best practices from other divisions throughout Alberta. If possible, to work on policy changes within Alberta Education.
