Over the years, Trustee Riding has supported and assisted in managing many sports teams including the Spirit River Regional Academy's cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track and field teams. Since joining the Spirit River Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in 1995, Trustee Riding has been an active member of the group, and has learned a lot about his community and its residents.
