Staff Wellness

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) Staff,

We hope this message finds you well. As we move through the school year, we want to take a moment to remind you of the crucial importance of wellness and mental health, both for yourself and the students you serve. It is no secret that the demands of teaching and supporting your students can be overwhelming at times, and it is essential that we recognize the impact of mental health on our well-being and our work. By creating a safe, supportive environment where they feel comfortable discussing their own mental health, we send a powerful message that it is okay to not be okay, and asking for help is a sign of strength.

PWPSD recognizes that your well-being is impacted by the conditions in which you work, live, and play. We value all our staff, and work hard to create spaces that contribute to good health.

Why Mental and Physical Health Matter

As educators and staff members, you play a vital role in shaping the emotional and social development of PWPSD students. However, you must remember that you cannot effectively support others unless you first take care of yourself. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and maintaining your own well-being ensures that you can be present, patient, and supportive for your students.

When you make your wellness a priority, you are better equipped to handle the daily stresses of your work, maintain a positive and nurturing environment, and lead by example in showing your students the importance of self-care. Additionally, fostering an environment that promotes mental health and wellness can reduce burnout, improve job satisfaction, and enhance the overall school climate.
As you continue to support your students, it is important to acknowledge that your own well-being must come first. By fostering a culture of wellness, you not only help yourself, but you also create a supportive environment that encourages your students to prioritize their mental health. Together, we can create a school community where both staff and students thrive.

Thank you for all that you do! Your dedication and care make a significant impact, and we appreciate you.

With gratitude and support,
Your PWPSD Wellness Team
