Clairmont Community School (CCS) and Whispering Ridge Community School (WRCS) have recently received STEAMS Kits thanks to the generous support of JMS Construction and Absolute HVAC Inc.
Honour the Work STEAMS Kits are designed to meet Alberta Education curriculum outcomes in math, science, social studies, and language arts while highlighting different trades. The kits introduce students in Grades 1-6 to skilled trades in a fun and interactive way. Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Penny Rose says PWPSD, Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools, and Grande Prairie Public School Division have been working together with the Grande Prairie Construction Association to find support to get kits in every school.
Earlier this year, JMS Construction and Absolute HVAC Inc. reached out to PWPSD about sponsoring STEAMS Kits for CCS and WRCS respectively. Mrs. Rose says she is extremely grateful for the community support. “We have committed to providing these kits, which cost $3200 each, to every one of our schools, so any sponsorship support is greatly appreciated.” She says the students love the hands-on learning they get by using the STEAMS Kits.
