On April 17, Alberta Education announced Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) will receive two additional modular classrooms to assist with growing enrollment pressure. The Division will place the new modulars at Peace Wapiti Academy (PWA), which is currently at a 98% utilization rate.
Plans for a replacement PWA have begun, as Alberta Education has allocated funds to the design and planning stage of the project. PWPSD Board Chair Lori Grant says the new modulars will be a welcome addition to the high school. “Our high school students and staff are feeling the pressure of limited space, so these modulars will help ease some challenges while we work toward a new building.” On behalf of PWPSD, Trustee Grant thanks Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure, and the City of Grande Prairie for working with the Division to have new modulars installed; and the County of Grande Prairie for assisting in the allocation of land and services for the replacement PWA.
An official delivery date of the new modulars has yet to be confirmed. You can listen to the Minister of Education’s announcement on YouTube.
