Beaverlodge Regional High School's Team Alberta North athletes
Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) was well represented at the 2026 Arctic Winter Games, which took place in Whitehorse, YT from March 8-15. During the Games, 18 PWPSD students competed in several different events for Team Alberta North, and Whispering Ridge Community School teacher Evan Senger attended the Games as coach of the Male Arctic Sports.
The Arctic Winter Games are an international event with athletes from Greenland, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Nunavik-Québec, Alberta, Sapmi (northern Finland, Norway, and Sweden), and Alaska. The Games promote an atmosphere of social interaction that strengthens cultural awareness and understanding, increases community pride, enhances self-esteem, and promotes volunteerism. Arctic Sports generally refers to a set of traditional games that have been part of life for Inuit peoples across a vast area stretching from Alaska to Greenland.
