PWPSD receives Design Funding for new Peace Wapiti Academy

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is extremely grateful to the Government of Alberta for the Peace Wapiti Academy (PWA) capital project’s Design Funding. Since receiving Planning Funding in early 2023, the Division has worked diligently to prepare for this next step.

PWPSD Deputy Superintendent, Darren Young, says it’s exciting to see the project move forward. “We are thrilled to see this school capital project advance to the Design stage. Throughout the Planning stage, we collaborated closely with our school community and the County of Grande Prairie, and we are eager to continue this positive momentum.” He adds that once completed, the new school will help address enrollment and space challenges PWA is currently facing.

PWPSD Board Chair, Lori Grant, shares Mr. Young’s sentiment and is grateful for the support the Division has received. “I am so excited by this announcement. I’d like to thank the County of Grande Prairie for all the hard work they put into making this project come to life. The new school will provide students and staff with a modern, purpose-built facility that will serve PWPSD communities for generations to come.” She sends special thanks to the PWPSD Administrative team for their dedication to this project, and MLA Ron Wiebe for his continued support of the Division and its initiatives.

PWPSD extends its sincere gratitude to the Government of Alberta, Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure, and the County of Grande Prairie for their commitment to providing high quality learning environments for students. Their support and collaboration have been instrumental in making this much-needed project a reality.
