La Glace School, Clairmont Community School will see new principals this fall

Mrs. Erin Eady, current teacher at La Glace School, will move into the role of Acting Principal for the 2023-2024 school year.

Mrs. Eady, who has been with Peace Wapiti Public School Division since graduating from the very first University of Alberta and Grande Prairie Regional College Collaborative Bachelor of Education program in 1997. She has worked at La Glace School for the past 24 years and says she is very excited for the opportunity. “I am over the moon excited for this! La Glace School is my home, and I am so honoured to be able to continue the wonderful work here while our principal is on maternity leave.”

Throughout her time at La Glace School, Mrs. Eady has taught students from Grades 1 through 7, and has been an Alberta Teachers Association representative for the past 22 years. She has also held the titles of Inclusive Education Coordinator, Occupational Health and Safety representative, and Healthy Interactions lead. She is heavily involved in the community, and proud to call La Glace home.

Ms. Jennifer Thompson, who is the current Acting Principal of La Glace School, has accepted the principal position at Clairmont Community School and will begin this fall. She says changes like this are always bittersweet, but she is looking forward to the challenge. “Although I have only been with La Glace School since January, I have built a real connection to the students, staff, and families and the thought of leaving them now makes me teary. I am very excited, however, to make new connections with everyone at Clairmont Community School.”

Ms. Thompson says joining a new school always reinvigorates her passion for teaching and learning, and she cannot wait to start her new journey in Clairmont. Ms. Thompson began her teaching career in 2008, and has taught students from Grades 1 through 12; she has worked in administrative roles for the past 13 years.
