PWPSD given green light for new high school

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is excited to announce it has received planning funding for a new high school north of the city of Grande Prairie. Planning funding activities include site analysis, and scope development activities.

The high school, once completed, will replace the current Peace Wapiti Academy, which is approaching 100% capacity, and continue to serve students from Harry Balfour School, Whispering Ridge Community School, Penson School, Bezanson School, and Clairmont Community School.

PWPSD Board Chair Lori Grant says, “A new facility will provide students with a modern space, adequate room, and diverse and engaging programming, for which Peace Wapiti Academy is known.”

PWPSD would like to thank the Government of Alberta for this funding announcement to help move this very important project forward. The Division also thanks the County of Grande Prairie for its continued support in providing school sites in our growing communities, so our students have great facilities to learn and grow.

In its recent Budget 2023 announcement, the Province announced 58 projects, including 13 full construction, 20 design, 14 planning, and 11 pre-planning projects.
