PWPSD schools to host Terry Fox Run events

Schools throughout the Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) are excited to honour Terry Fox through online fundraising campaigns and school run events, beginning Thursday, September 22. Students and staff are excited to welcome back parents and community members to participate as well.

Beaverlodge Elementary School

Thursday, Sept. 22 @ 2:00 p.m.

Students will participate in a school-wide run at 2:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to join. Online donations.

Bezanson School

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 8:25 a.m.

Students will begin their day by singing O Canada outside of the school at 8:25 a.m. They will then head out for their Terry Fox Run through the hamlet; parents are welcome to join. Online donations.

Clairmont Community School

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 1:00 p.m.

Students in Kindergarten – Grade 3 will begin their Terry Fox Run, running laps around the reservoir at 1:00 p.m. Students in Grades 4-8 will begin their run at 2:00 p.m. Parents and community members are welcome to join in the walk/run, or stand around the reservoir to cheer the students on!

 

You can help Clairmont Community School reach their school-wide goal of $3000 by donating online. Students who collect the most donations will receive a 2022 Terry Fox t-shirt, and the class that raises the most money will be awarded with an ice cream party from the Ice Cream Barn.

Eaglesham School

Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 1:15 p.m.

Students will participate in a school-wide Terry Fox Run through the hamlet of Eaglesham, enjoying the new trails at the park. Parents and community members are welcome to join. Online donations.

Elmworth School

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 10:30 a.m.

Students will be joined by three Paladin Security trucks for their school-wide Terry Fox Run. The Pit Stop food truck will be on location for a celebratory lunch. Online donations.

Harry Balfour School

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 10:45 a.m.

Students will be walking/running one lap around the Muskoseepi Park reservoir. Mrs. Clevette will be directing student traffic across 108 Avenue and 104 Street, and parent volunteers will be assisting as students leave the school at their designated times.

·         Junior Kindergarten - Grade 3: 10:45 a.m.

·         Grades 4 - 6: 10:55 a.m.

·         Grades 7 & 8: 11:05 a.m.

Helen E. Taylor School

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 2:05 p.m.

Students will wear ‘Crazy Socks for Terry Fox’ as they walk/run around the town of Wembley from 2:05 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. They have also been challenged to donate $1 to the Terry Fox Foundation. Online donations.

Hythe Regional School

Friday, Sept. 23

Students will participate in a school-wide run/walk and are welcome to donate a loonie or toonie to the Terry Fox Foundation. Primary students will kick off the day with a shorter run and will then cheer on the junior high students at the finish line. After their run, the junior high students will enjoy some activities outside. Online donations.

La Glace School

Thursday, Oct. 6

La Glace School invites families and the community to join its students on their 80s athletic wear themed Terry Fox Run. Students will learn about Terry Fox and why he is considered a Canadian hero during in-class and school-wide presentations.

Friday, Sept. 23

Students will showcase their support for the Terry Fox Foundation as they participate in a school-wide walk/run. Parents and community members are welcome to join. Online donations.

Savanna School

Tuesday, Oct. 4 @ 12:30 p.m.

A school-wide run will begin at 12:30 p.m., and family and community members are welcome to join. Online donations.

Spirit River Regional Academy

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 12:30 p.m.

Students, who will be accompanied by emergency service vehicles, will participate in the 15th annual school-wide Terry Fox Run by walking and running around town. Parents and community members are welcome to join. Online donations.

Wembley Elementary School

Friday, Sept. 23 @ 2:30 p.m.

Students will participate in a school-wide walk/run; individual, age-appropriate routes have been mapped out for each grade level. Online donations.

Whispering Ridge Community School

Tuesday, Sept. 27

Students will participate in the annual school-wide walk/run around the community pond, which will be lined with posters made by the students to cheer each other on. You can help your child’s class reach their fundraising goal by donating online.
