PWPSD announces two new principals for 2022-23 school year

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is happy to announce two new principals for the upcoming school year. Mr. Michael Rourke has accepted the principal position at Beaverlodge Regional High School (BRHS), and Mrs. Sherry Wishnowski will begin her PWPSD career as principal of Ridgevalley School.

Mr. Rourke, who has been teaching since 1996 with a short break to study architecture, has been part of the Beaverlodge community for nearly 20 years. He prides himself in being a life-long learner and has earned a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education, and Master of Architecture. He began teaching at BRHS in 2003 and has watched two of his three children graduate from the school; his youngest is currently in Grade 8. As he prepares for next year, Mr. Rourke is excited to face the school’s challenges head-on, continue to build the school’s connection with the community, and carry on his tradition of embarrassing himself in Graduation Teacher videos.

Mrs. Wishnowski, who holds a Master of Education in Leadership, joins us with 20 years of experience as an educator, working in administration for the past 15 years. Originally from Manitoba, and having grown up on a farm, she moved to Bezanson 15 years ago and continues to enjoy living in a rural setting. Mrs. Wishnowski is very excited to become a part of a school in a rural community and is looking forward to building relationships with its students, staff and families.
