Alberta Education has recently announced that diploma exams will temporarily weigh less for the 2021-2022 school year. After receiving feedback from students, parents and education partners about the stress and anxiety around academic achievement, the Alberta government has decided to change the weight of diploma exams from 30 per cent to 10 per cent. Alberta Education says this decision will help ensure provincial standards are maintained while acknowledging the learning disruptions that have occurred since March 2020.
This year, PWPSD students will completed their diplomas for the following courses:
- English Language Arts 30-1 and 30-2
- Social Studies 30-1 and 30-2
- French Language Arts 30-1
- Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2
- Biology 30
- Chemistry 30
- Physics 30
- Science 30

Diploma exams will return to their original 30 per cent weight for the 2022-2023 school year.
