12th Annual Sisters in Spirit

October 4th is the annual date for Sisters in Spirit vigils and walks across Canada, which was started by the Native Women Association of Canada. They say, "October 4th is a day when we honour the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people, support grieving families, and create opportunities for healing. The violence experienced by Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people in Canada is a genocide. United, we will demand action on an issue that impacts us all!"
In collaboration with the Grande Prairie Regional College Circle of Indigenous Students, and with support from local organizations like Hugasister, the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre invites the community to join this year's memorial walk and candlelight vigil set to begin at 4:00 p.m. today. Visit the Sisters in Spirit Facebook event for more information.
