AHS investigating case of COVID-19 at Peace Wapiti Academy

Grande Prairie, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has advised administration at Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) of a case of COVID-19 at Peace Wapiti Academy (PWA). The attached letter was sent by AHS to the parents/guardians of PWA students today, Saturday, October 24, 2020. 

Out of respect for the individual, and in accordance with AHS guidelines, no further information will be shared about this case. PWPSD and PWA wish the individual a safe and speedy recovery, and will continue to work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff.


School remains open for in-person learning

Peace Wapiti Academy has provided the following operational information:

  • AHS will contact all families of students who have been identified as a close contact, to provide testing and isolation instructions.

  • The plans set in place to create zones and cohorts at PWA have worked as planned, and helped in the successful completion of contact tracing with AHS.

  • School will continue as usual for all students who have not been identified by AHS as a close contact.

  • Remote learning opportunities will be provided to isolating students.

  • This weekend, the entire school is undergoing an additional deep cleaning in preparation for Monday.
