COVID-19 case confirmed at one PWPSD school, May 30

Grande Prairie, AB – Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is providing the following weekend summary report of COVID-19 cases in schools for Saturday and Sunday, May 29-30, 2021. The affected school has sent letters to their families.

Out of respect for the individual who tested positive for COVID-19, and in accordance with AHS guidelines, no further information will be shared about the case. PWPSD and the affected school wish the individual a safe and speedy recovery, and will continue to work closely with AHS to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff. The affected school has been disinfected. AHS is expected to provide all close contacts with further direction on testing and isolation instructions.


Case report for Sunday, May 30, 2021:

  • A case at Beaverlodge Regional High School. The case was last in school on Tuesday, May 25. Close contacts will isolate until Wednesday, June 9.

New information:

  • Close contacts who have been partially (one dose) or fully (two doses) immunized against COVID-19 were advised to call 811 to discuss the possibility of a modified quarantine period, based on new quarantining guidelines related to immunization. Since only AHS has the authority to modify an isolation period, those identified as close contacts were also advised not to contact the school office for guidance on isolation.
