PWPSD schools to host Remembrance Day ceremonies

Alternative Education

Alternative Education students and staff invite families to participate in a virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony via Google Meet. Please use meet code: VETERAN.

Beaverlodge Elementary School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 11:00 a.m.

The Ceremony will begin with a moment of silence; the Fine Arts students will then give a number of special performances.

Beaverlodge Regional High School

Wednesday, Nov. 9 @ 10:30 a.m.

To begin, Cadets will escort guests of honour from The Legion into the Ceremony. Those in attendance will then hear poem readings from students, the Last Post, and participate in a moment of silence.

Bezanson School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:45 a.m.

Organized by the Grade 8 and 9 Leadership students, the school’s Remembrance Day Ceremony is open to families and community members.

Bonanza School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:00 a.m.

Each class has prepared a presentation for the Bonanza School Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Clairmont Community School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:30 a.m.

Students have prepared artwork that will be on display for all to view. Students will lay wreaths, read Remembrance Day poetry, and participate in a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m.

Eaglesham School

Friday, Nov. 11 @ 10:00 a.m.

Eaglesham School will observe Remembrance Day by digging trenches and conducting activities typical of a WWI soldier, beginning at the end of the school day on Thursday, November 10.

 

To conclude their experience, students will host a Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Eaglesham Community Hall on Friday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. Laying of the wreaths will begin at the Cenotaph at 11:15 a.m.

Elmworth School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:30 a.m.

During a school-wide assembly students will share songs and poems, watch a slideshow presentation and take part in a moment of silence.

Harry Balfour School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 9:40 a.m. & 10:45 a.m.

Harry Balfour School invites families and community members to attend its Remembrance Day Ceremonies. There will be two ceremonies:

  9:40 a.m.: Grades 1-3

10:45 a.m.: Grades 4-8

Helen E. Taylor School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:30 a.m.

The Helen E. Taylor Remembrance Day Ceremony will include a performance from the school choir, a special guest from The Legion, a slideshow presentation and student presentations.

Hythe Regional School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 1:00 p.m.

Hythe Regional School invites families and community members to join its students and staff for their annual Remembrance Day Ceremony.

La Glace School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:30 a.m.

Junior high students will emcee this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony. Families and community members are invited to take in student performances and individual readings.

Peace Wapiti Academy

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:55 a.m.

Students will come together, virtually from their classrooms, at 10:55 a.m. to view a slideshow presentation, videos and to participate in a moment of silence.

Penson School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:45 a.m.

Families and community members are invited to the Penson School Remembrance Day Ceremony where a slideshow presentation showcasing photos of community members who have been involved in the military will be shared.

Ridgevalley School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:45 a.m.

Families and community members are invited to join the students and staff at Ridgevalley School for its Remembrance Day Ceremony. Attendees will hear poems read by students, the Last Post, a moment of silence and more.

Robert W. Zahara School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 2:15 p.m.

The Grade 6 students will be hosting this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony. Students will read poems and essays, and share a slideshow presentation featuring veterans who have a connection to the school community.

Rycroft School

Rycroft School invites families and community members to its annual Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Savanna School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:30 a.m.

Savanna School’s Student Council invites families and community members to join them at their annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. Students will read poems and essays, and showcase their artwork. A special guest will also be sharing a slideshow presentation.

Sexsmith Secondary School

Thursday, Nov. 10

Students will participate in a virtual assembly where they will view a video montage, listen to the Last Post and Reveille, and participate in a moment of silence.

Spirit River Regional Academy

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:40 a.m.

Spirit River Regional Academy families and community members are invited to the school for its annual Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Teepee Creek School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:45 a.m.

Families and community members are invited to this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony, which will include a special guest presentation.

Wembley Elementary School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:50 a.m.

Families and community members are welcome to join Wembley Elementary School for its Remembrance Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 10. Grade 2 students will perform O Canada, and one of the Grade 2 classes will be reciting the poem, “Little Poppy”.

Whispering Ridge Community School

Thursday, Nov. 10 @ 10:45 a.m.

Whispering Ridge Community School’s Student Council President and Vice-Present will be hosting the school’s Remembrance Day Ceremony. The Grade 8 band students will play O Canada, a local community member will perform the Last Post, and the Grade 2 students will share a poem.

 

Each class has created a wreath to lay down. Ukrainian students will lay down a special blue and yellow wreath.
