COVID-19 case confirmed at one PWPSD school

Grande Prairie, AB – Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is providing the following daily summary report of COVID-19 cases in schools for Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The affected school has sent letters to their families.

Out of respect for the individual who tested positive for COVID-19, and in accordance with AHS guidelines, no further information will be shared about the case. PWPSD and the affected school wish the individual a safe and speedy recovery, and will continue to work closely with AHS to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff. Remote learning opportunities will be provided to any students who will need to isolate beyond Easter break. The affected school has been disinfected. AHS is expected to provide all close contacts with further direction on testing and isolation instructions.

 

Case report for Tuesday, April 6, 2021:

  • A case at Peace Wapiti Academy. The case was last in school on Wednesday, March 31. Close contacts will isolate until Tuesday, April 13 (close contact on March 29); Wednesday, April 14 (close contact on March 30); or Thursday, April 15 (close contact on March 31). The case is part of the group that is already isolating due to close contact with another case.

  • PWPSD received notice that Clairmont Community School will be moved to ‘outbreak’ status today on the Alberta Government COVID-19 School Status Map. An outbreak is reported when five or more cases are confirmed in an investigation, where the disease could have been acquired or transmitted in the school. An outbreak investigation is considered over when there have been no new confirmed cases in the school for 28 days.
